Verse I:
I’m disabled and Congress is going to kill me!
I bet they wish I’d go and die and
The TV that’s no lie
They twiddle their thumbs and make me a bum!
I used to own business; made a lot of money
Had to sell it in 2000 when I got too sick to run it.
Filed for disability in 2006 what a shame I’d worked since I was 12
Social security said I was disabled all the way back to 2000!
Chorus:
Congress don’t care about disabled folks like me
They have healthcare and re-election cash from the insurers who’d deny me!
Verse 2:
My wife left me in 2005; I have her company’s insurance
Until 2010 when the divorce is final!
In 2009 her corporate insurance company mailed me copies of dozens of letters
That demanded repayment for provider compensation since the issue date of my Medicare Part B card!
These Blue Devils said Medicare was my primary insurer
And Medicare said the Blue Devils were my primary insurer!
I protested and the Blue Devils denied me
Then I got my wife’s Blue Devil insurance since her company had more than 100 employees!
I’m not joking, this is the truth
I have the paperwork as proof!
So Blue Devils must be doing this to all disabled people with a working wife!
God help the disabled whose wife has less than 100 employees!
Thank God I didn’t enroll in Medicare part D; Blue Devils would have stopped paying for my drugs! On no not the donut hole!
My life is a BS sandwich and every day I take another bite
I watch this health care stuff and wish I could afford a Miller Lite!
Chorus:
Congress don’t care about disabled folks like me
They have healthcare and re-election cash from the insurers who’d deny me!
Verse III:
Now you’ve got to hear something about me
So you can understand about me and Medicare Part D
Most of my body functions have stopped working
I need medicines to go numbers 1 and 2
And high-priced drugs so I don’t puke
My drug co-pays with the Devils are $4,000 a year
With no insurance my drugs are a thousand a month
I’ve had aspiration pneumonia 44 times
I need a cane to walk
I can’t adjust to heat or cold
And now for the price of my drugs:
Aciphex twice a day: $447
Flomax so I can pee: $172
Eight gallons of GoLytely per month: $228
Isosorbide to relax my esophagus: $27
Valium to relax the muscles in my body because I don’t absorb vitamins: $57
Trazadone: $56
Methadone for severe pain: $17
My Blue Devil coverage stops next August stops
Then I have to pay for tall these drugs plus the premiums when the donut hole kicks in
They’re gonna make me friggin bum
All congress cares about is cheating on their wives, nothing with my life
I hope this gets across to somebody!!!!
Chorus:
Congress don’t care about disabled folks like me
They have healthcare and re-election cash from the insurers who’d deny me!
Verse IV:
this is the most important thing I have to say
congress does not care about rallies or protests
the only thing that works is writing your Senator
get a postmark from the senator's state
write your return address and put in a letter saying that
you, Mr. or Mrs. Senator, work for me
and not for Pharma or the insurance companies
that is the most important thing I have to tell you
that will work and get Congress to act
