Opening progression:
I and IV: No Vocal
VI:
Here's a message of hope from a disabled guy to the rest of you
I and IV:
I Been disabled 10 years and showed symptoms years before
Even if you can't walk, there's things you can do
I have neuropathy all over my body, including my hands
Neuropathy means body parts don't work and I have it from head to toe
But I played all the instruments in this song except the drums
Listen how fast I'm playing when my hands don't work!
I typed the lyrics too
You can do something you didn't think you could do
VI chorus:
Here's a message of hope from a disabled guy to the rest of you
I and IV:
The 46 aspiration pneumonias that wrecked my vocal chords improved my voice!
You too have a choice
I'm blind in one eye so I bought a magnifying glass
if you're blind get the audio versions of books
If you're deaf, read a book! You can still read!
I walk with a cane and soon I'll be in a wheelchair, then I'll be dead
So I'll sit in an armless chair so I can still play music!
VI: Chorus
Here's a message of hope from a disabled guy for the rest of you
I and IV:
If nothing else, get a pet
I'm alone and they give me joy
I have two quiet parrots who's beauty makes me believe in God
If you can't walk, get a cat not a dog
If you're allergic to cats, take an allergy pill
For cats, buy a food bowl and a litter box
But whatever you do, don't watch the news!
It makes you part of the outside world, but the news is bad for you!
VI: Chorus:
Here's a message of hope from a disabled guy for the rest of you
I and IV:
Listen to music, it'll make you feel better
I know there are diseases that take everything away,
But with most you can have something good come your way
What made me crazy was not knowing what was going on with me
But understanding put me at ease
Have a friend find your your disease on Google if you can't do it on your own
If you live alone, make sure somenone calls you to make sure you're OK
Three times a week works for me, do whatever works for you
Chorus:
Here's a message of hope from a disabled guy for the rest of you
I and IV:
Docs tell me this disease will kill me
I thought nothing could be worse than a divorce
But this data hit me with nuclear force
After awhile, I decided to do something that would make my problem help others
I sent a blog out with an angry song that speaks for health care reform
I tried to speak up for disabled people without a voice
There's nothing more I could do other than make this choice
My disease is too gross to tell you about and you have your own problems
VI Chorus:
Here's a message of hope from a disabled guy for the rest of you
I and IV:
Just try to do one thing you don't think you can do
And you'll give my fate meaning
If you do that I promise you'll feel better
I'm half blind, with a a disease that should've made this recording impossible
But despite my neuropathy I managed to play all these instruments and
write a well-publicized blog about how health care affects the disabled
If you're young like me, do everything you can to live until your parents are gone
Nothing's worse than burying a child
That's why I'm still here three years after my past-due date
Maybe you can do it too
VI: Chorus:
Here's a message of hope from a disabled guy for the rest of you.
I through fade:
I told you my hands no longer work so now, to inspire you, I'm going to show off
yet another more demanding guitar part, through shear force of will; I love you all
